Roaring thunder guild code of conduct
Guild Code Preamble:
We are all here to enjoy playing the game together. To do this there are some rules we ask that everyone follow. As the in-game guild information notes refer members very clearly to this forum, ignorance of these rules will not be accepted as an excuse for failure to abide by them. Members are encouraged to be familiar with these rules and officers will use this document to arbitrate problems and conflicts. The guild rules will be made available for all members to review. Ultimately, guild member conduct is common sense and common courtesy. However, some events have lead to the requirement to document expected norms within the guild community and they are therefore recorded here to updated as the situation requires.
Leadership Pledge:
I, as your guild leader, as well as my designated officers, promise to be fair in our actions and to run the guild in the best interests of its members as a whole. Complaints and suggestions about the guild will be taken seriously. The below listed are subject to amendment at any time by officer consensus or by the unilateral implementation of the Guild Master. Large changes to the rules will be announced. Membership in the guild means accepting decisions made by the Guild Master and by those to whom I have delegated responsibility. Compliance with these rules is mandatory; however, membership in the guild is not. Should you feel that your play experience is being degraded please consult with an officer or the Guild Master.
Officer Responsibilities:
1. Promote the interests of the Guild and its Members and be positive representatives of the Guild and its ethos.
2. Dedicate a proportion of playing time to helping other Guild Members.
3. Recruit new members and to keep accurate and current Guild Membership information.
4. Keep Guild Membership informed of when they are available and when they are AFK and informing Leaders of planned absences from the game.
5. Read, receive and respond to messages from Members. Keep Leadership and fellow Officers informed.
6. Moderate guild chat/ Ventrilo providing mediation between Members.
7. Administer sanctions and impose disciplinary measures as required and in accordance with Guild Master guidance.
8. Enforce all rules equally and fairly and encourage guild members to self regulate actions.
Social Rules:
Please respect all players in the game. The anonymity provided by a MMO does not absolve you of treating people with common courtesy, respect and decency. Moreover, the GM has designated officers to assist him in guild management. Most problems should be addressed with an officer first! If you do not receive satisfactory results you may then take the issue up with the GM. However, some issues may involve officers or be sensitive in nature, and these may be brought directly to the GM.
Roaring Thunder does not tolerate harassment, derogatory or discriminatory commentary based upon basis of race, color, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, disability, age, or national or ethnic origin. While a healthy rivalry between in-game factions and races is acceptable, we require civil and courteous behavior towards the real people behind the keyboards in Guild Chat. The guild is comprised primarily of adults and therefore regular chat may include some innuendo, double entendres, trolling and good intentioned fun. Criticism of other guild members is not acceptable. Do not belittle someone for being lower-level, under-geared, inexperienced or an infrequent gamer. You do have the right, if offended to ask members to stop a line of conversation or to move to a private forum. Should guild members not support your request, seek assistance from an officer. However, ensure your request is rational and politely conveyed.
Members should refrain from discussing politics, religion, illegal activities, sexual orientation, or explicit sexual acts in the guild forums, guild chat, or on the Ventrilo server. These topics tend to be inflammatory due to the large and diverse makeup of the guild. If you decide to participate in such discussions in which people may become insulted or feel threatened, be prepared to face the possibility of immediate restriction from guild chat / Ventrilo and or removal from the guild for continuous infractions. You are more than welcomed to take such topics to a private channel, or a private voice/Text communications system of your choice.
Please keep all arguments off the Guild Chat channel. If you have a disagreement please take it to private tells/whispers. If you can't resolve your issues, escalate it to one of the Officers/Leaders they will mediate. Do NOT resort to name calling, swearing, etc. (See rules above)
No begging/whining. This includes begging for money after being told no, items, quest help, etc. If you're in need of something specific, post a message on guild chat. Keep in mind that people play this game for their own enjoyment, not just to help you do whatever you're trying to do. People will help you when it’s convenient for THEM to help you. If no one is available to help you immediately, feel free to do something else in game in the meantime and come back to whatever it is you're needing help with when it’s more convenient for others.
Benefiting financially in-game from guild-mates is frowned upon. Do not advertise items for sale in Guild Chat. (Advertising items you are giving away FREE however is encouraged.) Selling items given to you or crafted for you by other guild-mates is also frowned upon.
Please use your professions to help guild members without charge however; they are required to bring you the materials unless you make other arrangements. Non-farmable mats pricing, such as Motes of Harmony, should be worked out between you and the person requesting an item to be made.
Guild Integrity:
Do not engage in behaviors that Blizzard’s term of service. This includes advertising the sale of accounts, or game money/items/enchants for “real life” money. Anything that is against Blizzards Terms of Service is also against guild policy.
Always remember your Character name is followed by our Guild Name, and thus your comments represent to some extent the guild membership. Should your public conduct reflect poorly on the guild membership the guild leadership will take action to remediate the conduct. Guild members that are a witness to member misconduct may use “screen capture” in order to accurately record the alleged violation.
Ventrilo:
Please use a PUSH TO TALK microphone. Open microphones or voice activated microphones do not work well in our ventrilo system. Users without a push-to-talk microphone will be removed from the channel.
Respect others as you would want others to respect you.
Try not to talk over others, let them finish before you speak. If you use the mute function you may be talking over another user causing confusion in the channel. Use of the mute option of another user is a personal choice, but please ensure that you are not keying your microphone when someone is speaking – even if that person is muted to you.
Do not play music or other recordings in the channel without permission of the GM.
If you’re in a loud environment ( kids, animals, TV etc) please refrain from speaking in vent. If you are in a raid group, you will need to ensure you are able to listen and speak clearly in vent in order to facilitate the raiding experience. Please plan to ensure you are in an environment to use vent for raids.
Most infractions will be handled with a warning for a first offense. Repeated offenses will lead to being removed from the guild. Depending on the severity of the infraction, Officer/Leaders may remove a member from vent due to a grievous first offense at their discretion. We will not discriminate. We will put all parties involved in whatever is going on in the same room/chat without preference to who may or may not think it right or wrong.
Ventrilo is a pay-for-use system and the financial burden falls to the Guild Master. Therefore, use and access to the guild ventrilo server is at the discretion of the GM.
Raids:
Not all guild members will be able to raid in all raids. It is not the intention of Roaring Thunder to limit a members game experience, however, game structure limits “Raids” to a set number and make-up of characters. As more players reach the required equipment level and game experience to reach end-game content, additional guild raid opportunities will be opened to a wider audience.
Should you feel you are ready to participate in raids, speak with an officer and comply with the following participation requirements.
Raid Participation Requirements:
1. Sign up on Guild Calendar for scheduled raid.
2. Ensure Gear is repaired, enchanted, gemmed for your style of play and is item level / raid appropriate.
3. Be ready with your own Flask’s / Food.
4. Ventrilo is required.
5. Deadly Boss Mods add-on is required.
6. Be On Time (AND READY TO GO)!
7. Raid Leader and or designee will give all instructions if you do not understand the instructions ask. Do not argue with the raid leader or propose “a better way” unless your input is solicited or you will be removed from raid.
8. Loot Rolls will be handled by the Raid leader.
9. BOE drops will be handled via loot roll. Sometimes at the start of the raid special arrangements will be made to designate BOE items for guild use and therefore reserved.
10. Leaving after a particular boss because your gear didn’t drop or you didn’t win the gear is unacceptable and immature. Unreliable or uncooperative members will not be asked to join future raiding opportunities.
